I worked as the Consumer Special Publications Intern for Arkansas Business Publishing Group. I had the opportunity to learn from incredible leaders who gave me their trust and confidence to succeed in my role for eight months. During that time, I also had the chance to rotate through different departments and work on a variety of projects for Little Rock Soirée and the Business Special Publications, often working under tight deadlines that required accuracy, organization, and quick turnaround.

The publishing world is actually pretty similar to sports: you are trying to do your job fast, but also do it well. You proofread and copyedit until everything is as close to perfect as possible, while at the same time making sure the information is strong and meaningful so your work stands out and differentiates itself from competitors.

During my junior year, I served as the digital managing editor for The Patriot newspaper. That year, we launched the first website the newspaper had ever had and started building digital content around it.

We had a very successful year and received three awards at the 2024 College Media Association Convention, known as the Apple Awards. We earned two honorable mentions for Best Multimedia Ad Campaign and Best Multimedia Package, and, last but definitely not least, third place for Best News Website.
